Overview
In 2017 our journey began with change in mindset with the vision of developing young men through sports and academics. Our owner Dr. Kingsley Chin, former St. Georges player and Jamaica Junior National player laid a foundation from the ground up playing with Cavaliers football team for 8 months with Mr. Rudolph Speid, Concacof Coach and head coach. He was subsequently invited to build and invest in the Female National team by Cedalla Marley and Hue Menzies and supported their quest to FIFA women’s world cup 2019.
Our management team realized the development of grass roots football in Buff Bay and Portland as critical in becoming a beacon for the Caribbean. With this level of interest our team made the decision to fully commit to the investment of building through sports, academics . Our first focus was to transform and change the name of St. George’s Sports Club to Portlanders Football Club & Academy. This is to be more representative of the people of Jamaica and the regions. As part of our initiative we aimed to grow our fan base instilling values and behaviors to be optimally fit and entertaining through crisp and unselfish passing to maintain ball possession, tough defense with fast counter attacks and individual effective positional skill display.
